At Danos, we are proud of our employees’ service to both our customers and communities. Recently, Kendrick Veney, an operator at Hess Baldpate hub, led a significant donation effort contributing old mattresses to the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program in Houma, a program within the nonprofit Start Corporation.
Kendrick recognized that the old mattresses from Hess Baldpate were due for disposal and suggested donating them instead. After discussing the plan with the offshore installation manager (OIM), Kendrick’s idea was put into action. His proactive thinking ensured that these mattresses would find new homes with those in need.
ACT, which serves higher-need individuals with mental health diagnoses such as schizophrenia, major depression and bipolar disorder, has already received the donated mattresses. A representative from the organization shared the profound impact of this donation: "Many of our clients come to us homeless and with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Thanks to this donation, they now have something as essential as a mattress to sleep on."
The representative also recounted a touching moment: "I had one lady who only wanted to take two mattresses for her children and not for herself. I assured her of The Hess Corporation's generosity and stated that because of that generosity, there were enough mattresses for her to have one too. She cried, and I had tears of joy too."
A manager from Hess also commented, "We really appreciate this from Kendrick. It is great to have him working on our asset.”
This story of Kendrick’s leadership and the collaboration between Hess and ACT highlights the power of community support. We are inspired by Kendrick’s actions and proud of our team’s dedication to solving big challenges for our communities!
