Above: Refuge Services Executive Director Patti Mandrell provides an update on how funds received from Danos GIVES have impacted their organization.

At the beginning of this year, the Danos Foundation awarded $30,000 to Refuge Services to provide program funds for equine therapy for veterans and those with disabilities. During our visit to Lubbock, Texas, we were able to tour their beautiful facilities and even meet a few of the horses who are an integral part of the therapy.

Refuge Services prides themselves in providing therapy to the whole person – mind, body and spirit. Rooted in Psalm 46, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble…” Refuge Services lives its purpose each and every day.

Clients who receive equine services report improvement in family relations, less anxiety and depression, more self-confidence and hope, improved work performance and relationships, and more involvement in social and community living. Parents report children improving in performance at school and home. Veterans report fewer nightmares, less anxiety and improved sleep.

The Danos Foundation is proud to partner with such a wonderful organization as they keep solving big challenges for our communities.
